Our spies have begun their long season of camping around the Nurburgring and here we can bring you the first shots of the next generation Maserati Quattroporte conducting high speed testing at the famous circuit.

Codenamed M156, the prototype continues to wear the thick panels to hide the eventual styling but we are pretty sure the profile will look very different to the appearance we see here. The new Quattroporte will take on a sportier four-door coupe body style similar to the Mercedes CLS, the Audi A7 Sportback and the fugly Porsche Panamera. Dimensions are also set to grow in comparison to its predecessor to make room for a baby Quattroporte in the Maserati line-up.

Power is expected to be generated from a 4.7-liter V8 engine with an output of around 475 PS (354 kW / 469 bhp) and will be mated with the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission system.

Maserati are developing a new platform for their latest model that will make excessive use of lightweight aluminum materials. It will also be capable of implmenting a hybrid drive powertrain and although it will be primarily rear-wheel-drive, the all-wheel-drive from the Ferrari FF is also being considered.

Look for the next generation Maserati Quattroporte to be launched during 2013 as a 2014 model.

American magazine Car and Driver got hold of a 2013 Audi S6 sedan (C7) and managed an almost unbelievable 3.7 seconds in the 0-60 mph sprint.

The new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, which also serves in the Audi S8, S7 and S6 Avant, produces 420 HP (309 kW / 414 bhp) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of flatlined torque between 1,400 and 5,300 rpm via a 7-speed S-tronic transmission. According to Audi specs, 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint comes in at 4.8 seconds while top speed is an electronically-governed 250 km/h (155 mph).

Car and Driver managed 3.7 seconds running 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h). Now, granted there is a 2 mph discrepancy in times when comparing Audi's 4.8 and Car and Driver's 3.7 seconds. However, the difference of 1.1 seconds is vastly disproportional to a 2 mph difference.

Помнишь, как Кваттропорте, в первых журнальных тестах делал М5, которая была на 100 л.с. мощнее и на 100 кг легче Остается надеяться, что традиция сохраниться.
