Alfa Romeo's MiTo snags honor

Alfa Romeo's sporty MiTo subcompact has been named 2009 European car of the year. The stylish little two-door hatchback scored 462 points in voting by automotive journalists from across Europe.



The Lancia Delta finished second and the Ford Fiesta placed third. The Fiesta is to go on sale in the United States in 2010.

The awards complete a very good two-year run for Fiat Auto, which owns the Alfa Romeo and Lancia brands. Fiat's quirky 500 subcompact won the award last year.

The MiTo gets its name from a contraction of Milano, Alfa's home city, and Torino, where Fiat is based.

Но уже пора бы и объявить. Про фиат 500 стало известно за неделю до официального оглашения результатов.

Как я понимаю, есть два конкурса:
- Car of the Year (http://www.caroftheyear.org/), это де факто Автомобиль Европы. Вот его финалист и будет известен 17 ноября (Ми-то! Ми-то! )
- World Car of the Year (http://wcoty.com/), а это всемирный автомобиль, итоги будут известны в конце зимы/весны.

Alfa Romeo's MiTo snags honor

Alfa Romeo's sporty MiTo subcompact has been named 2009 European car of the year. The stylish little two-door hatchback scored 462 points in voting by automotive journalists from across Europe.

В понедельник жюри европейского конкурса "Автомобиль года – 2009" огласило официальные результаты своего голосования, по итогам которого победителем был признан новый Opel Insignia. Эта машина получила высшую оценку от 20 из 59 членов жюри, набрав в общей сложности 321 балл и став первым за последние 22 года автомобилем марки Opel, выигравшим этот конкурс.
Второе место в конкурсе было присуждено новому хэтчбеку Ford Fiesta, который по суммарному количеству очков отстал от победителя всего на один балл, получив 320 баллов. Третью позицию занял Volkswagen Golf (223 балла), четвертую - Citroen C5 (198 баллов), пятую - Alfa Romeo MiTo (148 баллов), шестую - Skoda Superb (144 балла). Замыкает список финалистов Renault Megane, получивший 121 балл.

В общем то МиТо слила справедливо ИМХО. А жОпель сделал наконец то просто Опель с большой буквы. За это и стал победителем. Все справедливо...

В общем то МиТо слила справедливо ИМХО. А жОпель сделал наконец то просто Опель с большой буквы. За это и стал победителем. Все справедливо...

Кому как ИМХО. Уж фиеста ничем не лучше.. А опель далеко не дотягивает до большой тройки. Все познается в сравнение.

Теперь все пекуться о том, чтобы их жопам было мягко.

А мягкость для жопы достигается прежде всего хорошими дорогами, а не мягкой подвеской.

Итальянцы, у которых в претендентах была “своя” модель Alfa Romeo MiTo, тоже пять из шести первых мест отдали Ford Fiesta и лишь одно оставили для VW Golf.

Французы не проявили патриотизма: четверо предпочли Opel Insignia, еще одно первое место досталось Ford Fiesta и еще одно – Skoda Superb. А все шесть испанцев дружно проголосовали за Opel Insignia.

Вообще в этом году такого явного лидера в голосовании журналистов, как в прошлом, не было. Если год назад яркому и жизнерадостному FIAT 500 удалось просто околдовать европейских журналистов и получить от них семь высших оценок в 10 баллов, то победитель Car of the Year 2009 Opel Insignia получил лишь две “десятки”. Ford Fiesta получил три высшие оценки, а VW Golf и Alfa Romeo MiTo – еще по одной.
