Все-таки Монтеземоло слов на ветер не бросает, коль сказал, что будет завоевывать Россию, значит так оно и будет.

Ferrari and Maserati stars of the 'Russian And Northern European Tour'

To mark the Ferrari Maserati Group’s imminent entry to the Russian market, two Ferraris and two Maseratis left the Maserati headquarters in Modena this morning on the “RUSSIAN AND NORTHERN EUROPEAN TOUR” which will see them cover over 10,000 kilometres in difficult winter conditions across Northern Europe.

The cars in question are a Ferrari 575M Maranello, a Ferrari 360 Modena, a Maserati Quattroporte and a Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa. They are being driven by Ferrari and Maserati test drivers and led by Gigi Barp.

This event is the latest in a long list of tours over long distances and often treacherous terrain embarked upon by Ferrari and Maserati: the F355 World Tour, the 550 Maranello in Tierra del Fuego, and the Maserati Coupй’s tours of Canada, the United States and Japan.

The cars are backed up by two trucks, a Eurocargo 75 E17 Tector and a Daily Combi HPI, supplied by Iveco, our official partner on the tour. The two vehicles will respectively be offering technical assistance, transporting special Pirelli winter tyres for the particularly severe conditions, and carrying the video and photographic crew following the tour.

The cars will cross Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia. They will then make the return journey via the Baltic Republics, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Austria, returning to Modena in late March.

The official suppliers for the Tour are: Pirelli for winter tyres that guarantee maximum grip and traction in extreme driving conditions; Shell for the Shell V-Power petrol and Helix oil developed in collaboration with Ferrari’s Formula 1 team; Woolrich for a range of thermal clothing designed to cope with the very low temperatures that will be encountered en route.

Russian and Northern European tour - Until Copenhagen

The start is planned for 8.00. The forecast is of cloudy skies for the whole day with the possibility of snow around Hamburg. The temperature should hover between 0°C and 2°C. The run from Hanover to Copenhagen is of around 650km, according to the programme. During the morning briefing we decide to head straight for Copenhagen cutting out the bridge at Odense. This should slice 150 kilometres from the journey but will mean taking a ferry to cross the Baltic Sea. We leave on time from our base for the night, the ex-Pelikan ink factory, now the Sheraton. We take the E47 towards Hamburg and find a slushy road surface from the night-time snowfall. In general though, the conditions are good.
We proceeded on to Lubecca without any problems. The snow continued to come down, but only lightly. From there we took the road for the port at Puttgarden where the ferry would board at 12.45. We upped anchor at one and used our time on board to have a spot of lunch and to park up the EuroCargo for its obligatory stop. The Danish shoreline that drew ever closer differed from the snowy conditions we had grown used to. Once ashore, we found the scenery drab and monotonous, still waking from its winter slumber. The only interesting features were the Aeolian generators and the age-old windmills. We arrived in Copenhagen at 16.30 under quite clear skies and temperatures of 3°C. The Ferrari fans that had gathered there did not miss the chance to admire the vehicles.

The Ferrari Maserati Group arrives in Moscow

Moscow, 19th March 2004 - After an exhausting dash through Northern Europe, Sweden, Finland and Saint Petersburg in Russia, a Ferrari 575M Maranello, a 360 Modena, a Maserati Quattroporte and a Spyder Cambiocorsa have arrived into Moscow. They attended a thronged meeting with the media organised by importer Mercury, at which they were the focus of the attention of both the press and the huge crowd of Muscovites gathered for the official launch of Ferrari and Maserati on the Russian market. The event was also attended by Italian Ambassador Gianfranco Facco Bonetti and other Italian diplomatic and commercial representatives.
The expectations for the two celebrated marques are very high here in Russia, not least because this Tour offered further confirmation of just how incredibly reliable the Prancing Horse and Trident models are, even when faced with the toughest of climatic conditions. “The official marketing will begin with the opening of the Showroom in Moscow in the second half of May,” announced Maserati Sales Director Roberto Ronchi. “But even now, we can predict selling at least 100 cars between Ferraris and Maseratis in 2004 alone.”

“The Russian market has enormous potential,” said Ferrari Maserati Group Communication Director Antonio Ghini “But as is traditional, Ferrari and Maserati both want to maintain the requisite brand exclusivity and respond to spontaneous market demand without forcing it, as that wouldn’t be part of the Group’s policy.”

Great attention was also focused on Formula 1, in view of the upcoming second leg of the F1 World Championship which takes place in Malaysia next weekend.

The Russian and Northern European Tour left the Maserati headquarters in Modena on March 5th and cut through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia as far as Saint Petersburg and Moscow, before setting off on the return leg through the Baltic Republics, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria. The cars are expected back in Modena in late March.

Russia will be the 50th country conquered by the Ferrari Maserati Group as a result of very high demand and strong market interest.
Holder of the Constructors’ World title for the last five Formula 1 seasons, Ferrari’s most important world markets are the United States, Germany and England. The market situation is quite similar for Maserati which also looks set to garner fresh victories on the racing circuits courtesy of the new MC12 after it makes its track debut in mid-season.
