Nicola Larini – the racing hero who restored Alfa Romeo’s honor in the nineties with his 155 in a rather famous German touring car championship – is what you’d call a driver at heart.
Larini, still in close contact with Alfa Romeo, will return to the circuit and will do so behind the wheel of an Alfa. Not an ancient 156 or 147, but instead a brand new Giulietta GTA.
He is to conquer the Nordschleife with this GTA in the VLN-series in 2015; a beautiful return since 1993 that will leave no Alfist untouched. Racing is obviously in his blood… The 50-year-old Tuscan will appear at the starting line with a 1750 QV Turbo fitted with Pirelli-tires.
The team will celebrate Larini’s comeback early March by setting off with two Giulietta GTA’s from the Castello Sforzesco in the center of Milan towards the Nürburgring. All this in the year that Alfa is to turn 105 years old and will launch one of the most important models in its history.
Could this finally be the first sign of Alfa’s definite return to racing?
