New Ferrari California revealed first photographs now available online - Record number of hits on site: over 60,000 visitors from across the globe in just one weekend

Maranello, May 13th 2008 - The latest Prancing Horse GT was revealed to the world for the first time at 11.00 this morning on the http://www.ferraricalifornia.com in a series of three photographs.

The new Ferrari California won't, however, be officially unveiled until October 1st next at the Paris Car Show. However, it will be revealed bit by bit to enthusiasts on a special dedicated site (accessible also via the http://www.ferrariworld.com official site) between now and then.

The http://www.ferraricalifornia.com site has been up and running under theferrarigtcontdown name since last Friday and, purely on the strength of word of mouth between Ferrari fans on the web, it attracted over 60,000 hits from all over the world in just one weekend. A total of 15% of these have already registered to ensure that they will be kept informed by email of the new revelations about the car between now and its virtual road tests.

The site launch immediately attracted worldwide attention: most of the first 60,000 visitors were American, followed by Italians and then enthusiasts from other European countries. The site also received a large number of hits from China, Japan and the Asia-Pacific region in general.

Having first showcased the sound of the Ferrari California's new 8-cylinder engine, the sensory journey of discovery continued today with the publication of the first three photographs of the car which provide a tantalising glimpse of its style. For now enthusiasts will have to content themselves with poring over one ¿ front, one ¿ rear and one side view photograph. However, over the next few weeks, new photographs will be posted of the cabin and the other details that make this car as unique every Ferrari.

Needless to say, the Ferrari California is brimming with technological innovations and the http://www.ferraricalifornia.com will be the site to watch to keep abreast of revelations of every last detail of the new car before it is unveiled "in the flesh" at Paris.

New Ferrari California revealed: a hugely versatile, innovation-packed GT

Maranello, May 13th 2008 - The first official photographs have been published of the Ferrari California, the latest addition to the new generation of Ferraris launched in 2004 with the 612 Scaglietti and added to more recently with the 430 Scuderia.

The Ferrari California joins the Prancing Horse's 8-cylinder family which has always been defined by power and performance. It also flanks the flagship 612 Scaglietti in the prestige sporty Grand Tourer segment.

The new Ferrari California will satisfy even the most demanding of owners in term of its superb vehicle dynamics and driving pleasure. The new model will be available exclusively as a convertible with a folding hard top. Both chassis and bodywork are aluminium, in line with the rest of the current range. The California will be powered by a new V8 engine mounted for the first time in the marque's history in the mid-front position.

In line with Ferrari tradition, the new model also features several innovations. Apart from its folding hard top, these include the original 2+ concept which guarantees exceptional versatility of use in the rear of the car. The California's 4,300 cc V8 engine features direct fuel injection and a "flat" crankshaft. It generates 460 CV at 7,500 rpm with a torque curve that enhances vehicle dynamics and provides maximum driving pleasure which is typical for Ferrari.

As per the traditional Ferrari transaxle layout, the engine, which allows the Ferrari California to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds, will be coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission that boosts the car's performance while enhancing the driving pleasure, improves ride comfort and reduces fuel consumption and emissions (c.310 g/km CO2). The comfort is further enhanced by a new multilink rear suspension system. The Ferrari California is also equipped with the exclusive F1-Trac traction control system which made its debut on the 599 GTB Fiorano and has been further honed to suit the typical driving conditions expected for this new GT. Brembo brakes featuring carbon-ceramic material disks as standard guarantee superbly efficient braking.

In addition to sporting the marque's classic styling cues, the cabin has also been beautifully trimmed using quality materials by Ferrari's own skilled artisans. New accessories and equipment, such as the seats, steering wheel, instrument panel and infotainment system, together with optimised aerodynamics ensure that this is a highly ergonomic and enjoyable car to drive regardless of whether the top is up or down.

The Ferrari California is aimed at owners who desire a car which embodies everything the Prancing Horse represents in terms of sporty design and innovation, but also seek a car with greater versatility than ever. The car will be officially unveiled to the public at the Paris International Car Show. However, over the coming weeks, new photographs and further details about it will also be published.

Хороший вопрос:) Разбираться надо:)) Когда-то, где-то читал (советская пресса, посему ни зачто не отвечаю:)), что на Пебл Беач какому-то американцу за aпгрейд одной крышки бензобака (i.е. отход от заводского оригинала), на 250ГТО цену скостили на 200к
зеленых рублей:))
Есть там такие занудные, как правило, пожилые дяденьки - экспертами кличут. Не тот ли случай:)))

А американцы - они же про/задвинуте во всех областях:)). Коллекционную машинку в качестве военной мишени - да запросто:)))

This Navy Blue/Tan LM002 belonged to Uday Hussein, one of Saddam Hussein's sons in Iraq.

On July 18, 2004 at a USA military base near Baqubah, Iraq this LM002 was used to simulate (test) the effects of a V.B.IE.D. (Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device). The vehicle was stripped of it's front seats (which were subsequently transplanted into the COL's vehicle) and packed full of explosives. It was then parked next to a concrete barrier that was similar in construction to those that surrounded the base. The photos at left show the car before and after detonation. Unfortunately, the men involved in this little experiment were unaware of the rarity of this vehicle at the time and it was not until they arrived home in the USA that they were able to do more research on exactly what they had.

This car not longer exists!
